     Rec. & Div. 1 Defined

Recreational Soccer and Division One Soccer are defined by the manner in which players are selected to a team and a player's allotted playing time.

Div 1 teams require an objective tryout in which players are evaluated based upon their soccer skill.  Players selected to the Div 1 team are guaranteed a minimum of 20% playing time.  Div 1 teams are competitive and compete in soccer tournaments as well as the Louisiana State Soccer Association Div 1 Cup.

Recreational soccer teams are developed by either random player assignment (typically computer generated) or through a random coach drafting process.  Recreational players are guaranteed 50% playing time.  Recreational teams are allowed to participate in competitive soccer Jamborees but do not play in sanctioned tournaments.  The focus of Recreational Soccer is to allow all players equal opportunity to participate in the sport - the focus is not to compete to win.

Additional fees are incurred in Division 1 Soccer due to tournament fees, extra uniforms for tournament play, and potential trainer fees.  Recreational Soccer requires no additional cost other than the registration fee.
