The Game of Soccer Tennis

Teams & Players
  • The game is played between 2 teams with 3 players on each team.
  • Unlimited substitutions are allowed on dead ball.
Match Duration
  • Games will last 4 minutes or first team to 14 points, whichever comes first.
Serving
  • Serves must be “Gentlemen” serves. The serve must bounce in the opponents court before the ball can be played.
Scoring
  • Rally scoring.
Team-to-Ball Contact
  • The receiving team can touch the ball a maximum of 3 times before returning the ball to the opposing team.
  • Exception: during the kick-off where the receiving player is allowed to take 2 touches.
  • Between the service recipients 2 touches, the Ball cannot bounce to the ground.
  • All 3 players do not need to touch the ball. The ball can be directly returned to the opposing team with only 1 ball touch, if desired.
Player-to-Ball Contact
  • Players can use any part of their body to touch the ball, with the exception of the arms or hands.
  • Shoulders are not considered part of the arm.
Ball-to-Ground Contact
  • The only time a ball is allowed to touch the ground outside the playing field, is when a kick-off player elects to bounce the ball before kick-off.
  • Any other ground contact outside the playing field are “out balls” and the opposing team is awarded a point and the next service.
  • Inside the playing field, a ball can bounce one time before a player touches the Ball.
  • Since the maximum number of players that can touch the ball before a return is 3, the maximum number of times a ball can touch the ground before being returned to the opposing side is 2.
  • The 2 ground contacts must be used by a minimum of 2 players before returning the ball.
  • The players can decide to return the ball after only 1 touch, if desired.
The Boards
  • The boards are considered part of the playing field ONLY if the ball has bounced on the court and then hits the board.
  • A ball played over the net that hits the boards before bouncing on the ground is out.
The Referee
  • The referee has the last call on all matters.
