Why Club Soccer - what can I get that I can't get at AYSO or SYS?
CDO offers free coaching/player clinics during the season, no coaching fees, free in-house coach education and licensing support for volunteer coaches, an E-learning section at www.cdosoccer.com with our own CDO Soccer Club channel on YouTube and other online resources to help you! We introduced free parent education courses for the 2008-9 season in association with Sportspath.
CDO youth teams play in the Tucson Soccer Academy (TSA) Development League, with USSF qualified referees to help kids learn the rules, a firm emphasis on long development over short term gain, and a fun soccer experience guaranteed!
Registration opens April 7th and will continue until September 30th 2009 - formal games begin in early October and run through the end of February, although some in house games will be played once practices start in August/September 2008.
Youth Teams (Open registration)
U6-U8 youth teams are typically parent coached, with play within a local development league, playing fun, small sided games in training to encourage maximum touches on the ball. There are options for a junior coach, (a CDO coach in training), to work with a youth team for a small monthly fee, or for professional training, although all youth teams have access to free clinics for both players and coaches as part of the annual club registration.
Ideally, these teams are coached by someone interested in spending the first couple of years in soccer learning more about the game and sharing this experience with their son or daughter. Training sessions are twice a week with games on Saturdays for 10-12 weeks in season.
Teams aged U9/U10 typically play in the citywide league in an 8v8 format, against players of similar age. Tournament play is available and is optional.
Coaching is typically from volunteer coaches, but can be from a CDO junior coach, or on a weekly, monthly or per session basis as and when required with a professional coach - the choice is down to the team. For more information on what options are available to individual teams, please visit our FAQ section in the upper left hand column.
The individual player costs are annual registration of just $85 and optional tournament fees in the event a CDO team chooses to play in a competition other than league play (usually U8 and above). Remember, uniforms are included, although teams have the option of upgrading to a full CDO uniform that the older kids wear!
