Scholarship Policy

  • Scholarships are a privilege, not a right, particularly when limited funds are available to support players financially. Therefore, the Club expects each scholarship recipient and their parents to view the scholarship policy seriously and illustrate commitment to their team.
  • Scholarships are based on the player's illustrated financial need according to Fairfax County Public School guidelines for qualifying for free or reduced lunch or other forms of public assistance.
  • Additional information and special circumstance may also be used to review and approve a player's need for scholarship.
  • Scholarships are granted season by season (for recreational players) and for a full year's program (for travel team members) and are based on available funds in the Cugini Scholarship Fund.
  • Approval of a scholarship is not a guarantee of assistance for future seasons or another program year.
  • Attendance at all practices and games year round is mandatory as is 15 hours of Cugini Community Service each fall and spring for players age 14 and older.
  • Cugini's Board of Directors reserve the right not to renew scholarships of any  players who repeatedly miss practice or games.

Scholarship Requests / Application Deadlines:

  • Current Cugini travel team members must submit their request for scholarship before the May 15th registration deadline for the new program year.
  • New players joining a Cugini travel team after May 15 may request a scholarship when they are offered an invitation to join the team.
  • Recreational players in Cugini's house league or on a Cugini Suburban Friendship League team may request a scholarship anytime prior to Fall or Spring season registration deealines.

Scholarship Financial Obligation & Leaving a Cugini Team

  • There are no refunds for any fees paid.
