FIRST RUNNING CLUB SESSION: Tuesday May 5th 6 to 7pm

Highland High School Track

6pm, Parents, Athletes, Coaches all gather to hear about the program.

6:15pm athletes and coaches warm-up and stretch as a group.

6:30pm break into grade groups for training session.

7pm finish session.

************************ PROGRAM INFORMATION ***********************

PLEASE BRING A WATER BOTTLE AND AND MAKE SURE ATHLETES HAVE RUNNING SHOES WITH LACES. A SWEAT TOP AND PANTS OVER SHORTS AND A T-SHIRT IS THE BEST ATTIRE.

PLEASE DON'T FEED THE ATHLETES A LARGE AMOUNT OF FOOD BEFORE THE TRAINING SESSIONS!

Sessions will be canceled if there is lightning.

Sessions will continue in rain.

All sessions will last one hour, from 6 to 7pm.

Sessions will continue at Highland High School for the first two weeks of May. On Tuesday May 19th the Running Club will move to SPA track until the last session, Thursday 16th July.

There will be no sessions during the week of Independence day.

All sessions will start at 6pm and finish at 7pm.

Coaches assigned to each grade:

Second grade: Melissa and Dan

Third grade: Keith and Jacqui

Fourth grade: Sophie and Nara

Fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade:: Rick and Jacqui

We will host our own running meet three times during the ten weeks.
We will only compete against each other for fun, ribbons will be awarded to all finishers.

Please note these dates, the running meet will replace the regular training session on that date:

Tuesday June 16th

Tuesday July 14th

TO MAKE THESE MEETINGS A SUCCESS WE NEED A LARGE ARMY OF PARENT VOLUNTEERS. PLEASE RESPOND TO HGRARUNNING@MAIL.COM IF YOU CAN HELP OUT IN ANY WAY. NO PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY! We need starters( you get to fire the pistol!), timers, lane assigners, Long Jump Judges, Softball throw judges, PA., lane judges, Ribbon Presenter.

There will be opportunities to compete against other athletes/clubs if desired.

Northstar United Track Club in Eagan hold meetings on Saturdays,
May 17th is the first meet.

HGRA's popular Running Clinic from last summer has expanded into a ten week Running Club.

The club will meet twice a week from May 5th - July 16th. Join us on a Tuesday or Thursday, or both evenings, the cost is the same.

We will offer sprint, distance, and field event coaching.

Interested members can participate in local area Track and Field Meetings.

Jacqui Kirk, a qualified and experienced Track Coach will run the Running Club.

Running is a great activity that promotes fitness and recreation and it is critical to the success in soccer, baseball and many other sports.

Don't miss this unique opportunity for your child.
