Sport Activities
Opening Day: Dec 12th
Basic Field Information
The Laramie Blizzard Indoor Field is a brand new 120' x 90' feet of indoor field synthetic sport turf that looks, feels, and plays like real grass. This area can be used either as one wide open field or it can be divided up into two smaller areas. Netting is used to divide the field to stop sports equipment from going onto opposing sides. There is three feet of space between the sidelines and wall surrounding the field.
Outdoor soccer shoes with molded rubber cleats are allowed and seem to work best for most players. Regular shoes tend to slip just like on real grass.
Agility training area
This area is a designated space for agility/speed training and injury prevention that is also covered in synthetic turf. This area is not part of the 12,600 Sq Ft and can be used while someone else is on the playing area.
Ladders and other agility equipment are provided. Personal trainers and injury prevention specialists will be running programs that anyone can join. Information on these groups will be provided when started.
Soccer
The Laramie Blizzard Indoor Soccer Field area is 120 feet by 90 feet. It has synthetic turf to make the game as realistic as possible to the outdoor game. The turf provides a faster environment were all players can improve their skills to become better soccer players.
Soccer goals can be set up length or width wise depending on age and the number of players partcipating. Facility can be used for 3v3 all the way up to 6v6.
The field is lined with touch and end lines. There are no boards as in a hockey looking rink. If the ball rolls out of bounds it becomes a throw in or kick in just like the real game. Again, this has been done to more closely approximate the outdoor game of soccer, and improve the transfer of skills from indoor play to outdoor play.
Baseball/softball
The facility is tall enough to have a baseball or softball thrown from end to end for practice. It also can allow pitchers and other players to work out in the winter when it is not possible to go outside and throw. The turf is fast enough to allow the ball to be roll on the ground just like outside.
Football
The Laramie Blizzard Indoor Field has a good set up for indoor football. The 120 foot by 90 foot field is great for running practices and going through plays. The height of the playing area is high enough to throw long passes all the way across the turf. The field is also set up so flag football could be played with plenty of space to move side to side or forward to backwards.
Lacrosse
The field is set up to have team practices or shortened field sized games. The area is large enough to allow players to simulate team concepts and strategies to transition to playing outside. Just as in soccer, lacrosse can play 3v3 all the way up to 6v6 maybe even 7v7.
Team Practice Setup: The full 120' x 90' open field can be set up for goals on either end of the field to allow plenty of room behind these areas to make the game as realistic as possible to outdoors.
Other Sports
Any team sport that is played on grass outdoors can be played indoors on the synthetic turf field. Other possibilities include field hockey, rugby, cricket, ultimate Frisbee, dodge ball, and grass volleyball.
Hospitality Rooms
These rooms can be used for anything from birthday parties to meeting rooms for organizations. This area allows food and drinks with plenty of space to relax and socialize. Chairs and tables are provided for these areas.
