FAQ
How much travel is involved? Blizzard teams playing in the Wyoming league generally play a 6 game season consisting of 3 dates (usually on Sunday’s) where they will play 2 games. Our teams are generally granted at least 1 home weekend. The teams choosing to play in Colorado League (U-11 and above) play a 10 game season with 5 home and 5 away games. These games are generally played on Saturdays, Colorado league will schedule on Sundays if needed. Wyoming league does try to centralize games if possible, Colorado positions teams by ability so there is no guarantee of the location of the away games.
How are the fees determined? Our club fees breakdown into these categories. League fees, Referee fees, Administrative fees, Equipment, Insurance, Coaching, and field use fees. These categories are evaluated and adjusted at the beginning of every season.
How do you start a new team? We primarily are an all volunteer group; we do however have administrative and coaching help to insure quality and continuity throughout the club. Each team is required to provide a team parent, to organize the team and to be a representative of that team in the normal club operations. Blizzard holds an annual tryout every spring, at the end of the tryout period the teams will be formed. At that time a coach and team parent will be named.
How can I get involved? We encourage all of our families to participate in some form. If you are interested in coaching we have the resources to help you. If you have organization skills then serving as the team parent is for you. Blizzard also host many other events and even if you can’t spare a lot of time we ask that you help with occasional committee as your time allows.
Will my child enjoy competitive soccer? Our club believes that soccer is a game above everything else. Yes, competitive soccer is played at a higher level, our primary teaching will be for the players to learn the game of soccer, improve their skills and coordination, to be physically active, to work with others in a team environment, and to learn that it’s ok to compete hard and win or loose, act with integrity. With these simple guidelines the players will grow as people and have a great time doing it.
