Q: Why play travel soccer?

A: Some benefits of travel soccer include:

  • More opportunities to play than what is generally available at a recreational level, with practices twice a week and often leagues and camp between seasons. Players often have an opportunity to also participate in tournaments.
  • Lower costs than many premier teams and competitive with recreational programs.
  • Opportunities to form friendships with other players, as they get to play with the same team for an entire season (fall and spring).
  • Certified coaches help develop player skills, with camps and other opportunities available (i.e., goal keeping clinics, etc.).

Q: How competitive is travel soccer?

A: Travel soccer is more competitive than recreational leagues. However, our teams are matched with comparable teams in other neighboring communities. All teams are assessed at the end of each season based on their scores, and may be raised or lowered so that they continue to play teams with similar skill levels. These brackets are defined by the American Amateur Soccer League (boys) and the Northern Ohio Youth Soccer League (girls).

Q: Does my child need to try out for a team?

A: Based on the number of players interested in travel soccer, evaluations may be held to determine team assignments. If so, these evaluations are mandatory for each interested player to attend. This helps ensure teams are evenly matched based on skill level. See also About Us > Playing > Evaluations.

Q: How much travel is involved?

A: Generally, about half of the games played each season (four) are in other neighboring communities in Northeast Ohio. The team schedule is provided in advance by your coach, and maps to the fields can be found on our Web site - see About Us > Fields/Maps.

Q: When are games scheduled?

A: Most games are played on Sundays, with an occassional evening game during the week.

Q: Where are games played?

A: Our teams play in 40 different communities. Please see About > Fields/Maps for locations of fields including addresses and links to maps.

Q: My child is younger but wants to play with kids in their grade. How do I do this when I register?

A: Register your child for their league-appropriate birth date. Since you also are asked to provide the grade your child will enter in the fall during registration, we will have the necessary information to move these players during the registration period.
