The U8 age group is for players born from 8/1/01 to 7/31/02. Experience is not necessary. Players are placed on a team with approximately 10 to 12 other players under the direction of a volunteer coach. The coach is usually a parent and is required by the club to have an F level coaching license.
Teams in the recreation program compete in either the Ocean County Recreation League or Jersey Coast League. Teams play a “small-sided“ game - eight versus eight. They play ten games in the Fall and ten games in the Spring. Half of the games are at home and half of the games are away, typically at Pine Beach, Manchester, Berkeley and other nearby towns. Games are played on Saturdays and most recreation teams practice at least one evening during the week. The Fall season starts in early September; the Spring season starts in late March.
Although we will make every effort to place every child that wants to play, placement cannot be guaranteed at this age level. Recreation program players must purchase a club uniform for an additional charge.
