Assistant Coach Mark Vanderslice

Mark Vanderslice is the newest member of Furman's coaching staff, having joined the Paladin program in early summer.

Vanderslice came to Furman following four seasons at Toledo, where he served as assistant coach for two years following two seasons as director of basketball operations.  During the 2006-07 season, he helped guide the Rockets to their first Mid-American Conference regular season title in 27 years and a trip to the National Invitation Tournament.

Prior to his stint at Toledo, he served as an assistant coach at NCAA Division III Heidelberg College, where he received his master's degree in business administration.  He played collegiately at UNC Asheville for coach Eddie Biendenbach before serving as an administrative assistant for the Bulldogs from 2000-02.

The Salisbury, N.C. native and 2002 UNCA graduate earned all-country and all-region honors as a prep standout at West Rowan High School.  Vanderslice helped the Falcons capture the 1997 state title as a senior.
