Sam Dixon - Head Women's Basketball Coach - Camp Director

In April of 2002, Dixon's love of coaching led him to Furman, where he became the eighth head coach in the 34-year history of the women's basketball program. His impact was immediate and in 2002-03, he led the Lady Paladins to a 16-13 overall record and coached Deshara Shealey to the Southern Conference Player of the Year award.

In Dixon's first three seasons, Furman posted a winning record every year, and did not finish lower than third in the Southern Conference. In addition, his Lady Paladin basketball players racked up 30 Southern Conference Academic Honor Roll citations, including a program-record nine in 2003-04 alone.

With a .497 overall winning percentage and a .511 mark in the Southern Conference, Dixon has made a name for himself in the pantheon of Furman coaches. As Lady Paladin head coach he also reached 30 wins, 40 wins, and 50 wins more quickly than any other leader in program history.

As a total package his years of coaching experience, an outstanding academic background, experience as a collegiate player, and a passion for the game of basketball combined to put Dr. Sam Dixon at the helm of the Lady Paladin basketball program.

In her collegiate career, Carrigan was a four-year player at Colorado Christian University. During her career with the Cougars, Carrigan was named a four time Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference all-star, and was recognized as an NCAA Div. II Bulletin All-American as a junior, when she averaged 22 points per game. She still holds career records at Colorado Christian in five different categories including points (1,774), field goals made (653), and three-point field goal percentage (.363).
