A NOTE FROM YOUR COACHES > > > >

GIVING CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS THE OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY AND ENJOY THE FUN GAME OF SOCCER IS THE BASIC PHILOSOPHY OF THE BARRENS SOCCER CLUB.  WE HOPE THE U-20 AGE GROUP FOSTERS THAT BASIC PHILOSOPHY.

CURRENTLY THE DELTA/FAWN GROVE AREA HAS A COMBINED GROUP OF 18 PLAYERS.  THE STEWARTSTOWN AREA ALSO HAS 18 PLAYERS.  EACH AREA IS PRACTICING JUST ONE DAY A WEEK, BECAUSE OF ALL THE OTHER COMMITMENTS THIS AGE GROUP ARE INVOLVED WITH; SCHOOL, WORK, ETC.

OUR PLAN IS TO PLAY  7 vs. 7 GAMES ON SUNDAYS.  EACH TEAM WILL BE COMPRISED OF APPROXIMATELY 9 PLAYERS.  THE GAMES WILL TAKE PLACE MOST LIKELY IN FAWN AREA WITH A TWO HOUR TIME SLOT TO COMPLETE BOTH GAMES.

OUR GOAL IS TO MIX A DIFFERENT GROUP OF 9 PLAYERS EACH WEEK, INCLUDING MIXING WITH THE DIFFERENT AREAS AS WELL.  THE END RESULT WILL BE A FUN, FRIENDLY, BUT STILL COMPETITIVE SOCCER GAME.  THE 7 vs. 7 FORMAT ALLOWS FOR MANY MORE TOUCHES OF THE BALL AND A CONTINUOUS MOVEMENT OF PLAYERS IN AND OUT.  THE FIELDS ARE SMALLER AND THE GOALIES CAN ONLY THROW THE BALL ON A CLEAR, NO PUNTING.  BOTH AREAS WILL HAVE THE SAME COLORED SHIRTS.  ON GAME DAYS ONE TEAM WILL BE PROVIDED WITH A DIFFERENT COLORED SCRIMMAGE VEST TO WEAR.  IF FOR SOME REASON PLAYERS ARE UNABLE TO MAKE A SUNDAY GAME WE WILL ADJUST THE NUMBER OF PLAYERS ON A TEAM ACCORDINGLY.

THIS SET-UP IS NEW FOR US (COACHES AND CLUB) ALSO, SO WE HOPE YOU ENJOY IT AND ARE FLEXIBLE AND PATIENT WITH THE EXPERIENCE.  WE AS COACHES LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING EVERYONE GETTING PLENTY OF PLAYING TIME—PHYSICAL FITNESS—AND HAVING A GOOD TIME PLAYING THE GREAT GAME OF SOCCER.
