World Cup Weekend Rules

It is a double elimination tournament. Tournament brackets are posted and will be filled in as the coaches pick their team letters.

Games are 15 minutes long; 10 minutes between games.  Each game will stop and start on an air horn.  In the event of an injury the air horn will sound twice, all games will stop; the air horn will sound once for the games to continue.  Games will resume with a drop ball where game was stopped except in cases where possession was clearly to one team such as a thrown–in, goal kick or corner kick was about to take place.  This is ENTIRELY up to the referee’s discretion and is not debatable.

Field Marshals on each field will help teams get where they have to be.  A master bracket will be posted at the concession stand.

Each coach is required to bring a ball, suitable for play, in addition to the game ball.  These balls will be kept by the field marshal and be thrown in as needed to eliminate down time in the game.  Coaches, please instruct your players that they are not to run after the ball if it goes out of the end zones farther than 10 feet.  A new ball will be thrown in for play, and the other ball retrieved by the field marshal.

Remember that game times on the brackets are when the horn sounds.  Please have your players there well in advance of a game.  We will not wait on teams to gather.  When a game starts at 9:25 the team should be on the field in position ready to play.

All regular rules for the FCYSC Club apply.  If you are unsure of the rules see the FCYSC web site go under the Saturday heading and select rules.

After each game coaches and referees sign ref cards - these cards will be used to update the brackets.

In the event of a tie all players on the field should remain on the field as they are – do not go to the sidelines.  During the shots, the players on the field should remain at center line.  A field marshal will be there to help facilitate the following procedure.  Each team will choose 2 players to do a shoot out.  The 2 players must be on the field at the end of play -  the goalie that ended the game must stay as the goalie during the shoot out.  If at the end of the 2 player shoot out there is still a tie each team will add another player from those on the field.  The goalie is considered one of the players on the field and must shoot before the sideline players.  After all of the players on the field have taken a shot, if there is still a tie, then players from the sidelines will shoot until everyone has taken a shot.  No player may reshoot until every player on the team has taken a shot.

Only coaches that are on the roster are permitted to be on the sidelines.  Only players that are on the roster may play on a team during this tournament.  In house Commissioner has the complete roster listings in case of any questions.

CHERRY PICKER RULE:  definition: A player stationed in the opposing teams side of the field while play is at the other end of the field.  Any age group coaches are NOT permitted to assign players whose purpose is to stay in front or sides of goal whenever the rest of team is on opposite side(on defense) of the field. Any player staying in the opposing teams side of field will result in a Direct kick from the half line for the opposing team.

Keep in mind that the referee’s word is final – they will have their red cards!!  HARRASSMENT OF PLAYERS, COACHES, REFEREES, SPECTATORS AND STAFF WILL NOT BE TOLERATED AND CAN RESULT IN AN EJECTION FROM THE COMPLEX.  COACHES, PLAYERS, OR PARENTS ARE NOT PERMITTED TO DISCUSS GAME WITH REFEREES AFTER GAME

Most of all this is still supposed to be fun for the kids so everyone keep good sportsmanship and let the kids do what they do best - have fun!!!!!!!!!
