MUSC operates under the guidelines of New Jersey Youth Soccer, which is a member of the United States Soccer Federation, Inc. As such, our travel teams play two 10-game seasons, Fall and Spring. Travel soccer teams normally practice two times a week, and play games or participate in festivals or tournaments on the weekend including some holidays. U9 - U14 teams playing in Northern Counties have boys normally playing on Saturdays in the Fall and girls playing on Sunday. In the spring, both boys and girls normally play on Sundays. U11-U14 games in most of the other leagues play both boys and girls games on Sunday. Weather and fields availability always plays a factor, so make-up games get scheduled as they can. Depending on the skill level and age of the team, considerable travel time to and from games may be required on the weekend.
Each spring, players are invited to participate in our tryout process to assess skills and form new teams for the following year. Placement of players on teams is determined by tryouts, player development, skills of new players joining the program, current year assessment where applicable, and being able to form teams of players with comparable skills. Participation in tryouts, or being on a travel team this year does not guarantee placement on a team next year.
