Cugini older recreational teams are for girls and boys ages 11-18 who don't wish to pursue a year-round travel soccer program or cannot playgames on Sundays. Recreational players who register with Cugini will compete in the Suburban Friendship League (SFL), where teams play games on Saturdays on fields in Northern Virginia. Cugini places both girls and boys teams in the SFL, where the Fall game season runs September to early November with the season ending with a tournament. 

Coaches on game days are volunteer parents trained in the Italian scuola calcio (soccer school) methodology and philosophy. Cugini SFL teams play half their games home in Reston and half on away fields (typically within 30 minutes of a club's home base).

The registration fee for SFL teams is $165; plus uniform fee of $50 (for new players or current players needing larger size).The fee includes 2 practices per week, professional training, SFL league fees, VYSA membership,insurance, $5.50 Fairfax County user fee, fields improvement, coach instruction.
