Back River Field Expansion
January 2010
Timber was cleared and ground broken recently in the expansion of the Back River field complex. The expansion involves a 250 yard extension to the south of the existing game fields to create additional practice and game space. The complex helps to meet the needs of the club (Bedford Soccer – NH Classics) and also makes a positive impact on field capacity in the town of Bedford which benefits all outdoor field sports. Bedford Soccer – NH Classics have a long history of field development in the town and this private – public partnership is a tremendous service to the town of Bedford, the taxpayers and the greater soccer community.
Boys U15 Premier Team Reaches Finals at Disney
December 2009
The Boys U15's played well in the Florida sun at the Disney Soccer Showcase, arguably one of the top youth soccer tournaments in the country. Finishing at the top of their group with wins over the Charlotte Predators (NC), Pachuca Dragons (MD) and a tie with GSA Phoenix (GA), the boys fell in a well played final losing to the south Texas state champs Lonestar (TX). Coach Mehdi Katane said, "I am very happy with the contributions of all the players and players coming off the bench had a positive impact on the game showing great team depth. The back line was solid and goalkeeper Nick Bergen who was called up from the U14's made some quality saves. Erik Martel and Ryan Sharby were steady in the midfield and Romero was a presence scoring in each game he played in. It was great team effort 1 through 17." Gotsoccer currently has the 15's ranked 28th in the region and 72nd in the country. http://www.gotsport.com/rankings/team.aspx?teamid=191245
The Boys U16’s had a more difficult time without their striker Yannick Kabala who was playing with the Region 1 ODP team. In the first match, a 2-0 lead evaporated and United FC International (KY) came roaring back for a 3-2 win and went on to win the event. North Atlanta Elite (GA) and Alpharetta Ambush (GA) followed up with 1-0 and 5-3 wins respectively, Both North Atlanta Elite and the Alpharetta Ambush also went on to win consolation matches so overall, the teams in the group proved to be very strong. Coach Rob Dow said “in preparation for the Region 1 Premier league, we got to see some players in new roles and except for a few lapses, the boys did well even though we did not get the results we anticipated. We have a solid team and we are looking forward to a very productive season.” Gotsoccer currently has the 16's ranked 49th in the region. National soccer rankings (www.nationalsoccerranking.com) had the 16's as high as 7th in the region this past summer. http://www.gotsport.com/rankings/team.aspx?teamid=191239
