Welcome to the Rutland County Soccer Club (RCSC). Come play with us in the Vermont Soccer League!
At RCSC, we develop players and teams in a fun and supportive environment. The goal is fun, consistent and effective player and team development across all ages. Our coaches take a "kids first" approach, focused on development and not just winning. Our coaches are experienced players who are licensed through the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). They help players develop the individual skill, effective group play, and work rate needed to play the game at a high level.
It's all about the coaching. We strive to retain the most qualified coaches, and to provide the support and training needed for coaches and their teams to develop and succeed. We work with two of the best coaches of coaches, John Werner (Castleton men's team coach and 2007 North Atlantic Conference Coach of the Year) and David Saward (Middlebury men's team coach and 2007 Division III National Coach of the Year), to support and develop our coaches. John Werner and Dave Saward are sanctioned by the NSCAA, and both are highly qualified and very experienced coaches of coaches. Just as important, their coach development sessions are effective and fun.
We support our goalies with goalie coaches. Our goalie coaches work with all club goalies to develop the particular skills needed to be an effective goalie, arguably the most important and difficult position on the field. Please visit our coach resumes at the "Coaches" tab.
We encourage players to join our program when they are young. It can take time to develop the skill and understanding needed to play the game at a high level. Players should be doing the right things at 8, 10 and 12, to play well at 14, 16 and 18.
We are a volunteer organization, and strive to keep club fees low. For the upcoming season, the fee for players 10 and under is $190. For players 11 to 18, the fee is $375. The fee does not include uniforms, which if needed cost about $80. The club fee typically includes (1) indoor training from January through March, (2) an indoor league or tournaments in late winter and early spring, (3) outdoor training at the Polo/Hathaway Field in Rutland Town, (4) participation in the Vermont Soccer League in May and June, and (5) several tournaments in the summer.
