As I speak with youth soccer clubs about their online needs and whether SombreroREG™ is the right long term fit, I am usually asked whether we offer software upgrades or enhancements.  Then after the clubs learn that we continually develop new features for our partners, the next question is always “how much do you charge for your enhancements?”

 The fact that Blue Sombrero has been committed to ongoing development based on customer feedback for the past ten years is something I am very proud of as the longest tenured employee.  We roll out new releases during the year at no additional cost and this is one of things our club partners appreciates the most about our company.  However, even though we add “big ticket” features such as Team Pages and Sombrero PAY, many times it is the little “under the radar” improvements that can make the most positive day-to-day impact as an administrator or user of the service.

 
 
A few examples to illustrate my point here are as follows: our team added a “live Teams link” to our Quick Search feature which takes the administrator directly to the updated Team Pages Roster page.  This saves the administrator several steps when searching players and needing to quickly view roster information on their respective teams.  Another example of a smaller but powerful update performed this year was when our team adjusted the new Payment Plan feature to allow for a “hard payment date” to be set which triggers a seven day advance auto-payment reminder email to the families. 

Again the “big ticket” new features are very important and tend to receive the most attention but to me, the smaller fixes and enhancements can also make such a difference to the overall user experience for our customers.
