Communication in Times of Need
Posted by Ben Wineski on 08:13
Often times, when the weather takes a turn for the worst, the best course of action for your organization is to simply cancel games or practices and live to fight another day. With tight schedules and availability of dates for your teams, it is the very last thing you want to do, but sometimes it’s the only thing you can do! Rain and snow can make roads dangerous and fields tough to play on.
What can you as an administrator do to keep connected to your members during times like this?
Every sports organization needs some sort of system to keep in constant communication with their players, parents, and coaches. When circumstances such as this arise, you must be able to not only ensure you can contact everyone, but do it as quickly as possible. Email Communication is one of the most popular means of staying connected today. It is quick, easy, and virtually everyone has an email point of contact. Blue Sombrero’s Bulk Newsletter tool allows you to reach out to various groups within your organization, every member in a mass email, or even external email lists.
Another ever growing form of communication is by Text Messaging (SMS). With cell phones and smart phones becoming more and more popular, it is increasing as one of the most reliable ways of staying connected with people. Again, Blue Sombrero makes it easy to group members of your organization into SMS “buckets”, allowing you to quickly send texts out to the appropriate people.

Aside from Admin tools such as these, Blue Sombrero provides coaches with email tools specific for their teams. Our Team Page feature comes with a Team Dashboard that coaches can use to send messages to players on their roster and other volunteers for the team. It is a great tool to help team staff stay better connected to their players and parents!
If you have any more questions regarding our Newsletter, SMS feature, or the various other communication tools Blue Sombrero Provides, feel free to contact an Account Representative or visit our 24/7 Support Site.
