For four days late last week, Kansas City became the center of the youth soccer universe. Thousands of coaches, administrators, and vendors descended upon the chilly Midwestern city to witness one of the single greatest events in the game today: The NSCAA Soccer Tennis Cup Presented by Blue Sombrero. As an added bonus, cup attendees also participated in the NSCAA Annual Convention, the largest youth soccer conference in America, where they attended coaching clinics, administrative workshops, awards banquets, and vendor demonstrations.
As ever, Blue Sombrero’s team made its presence felt from the opening whistle. By the time the smoke had cleared, Blue Sombrero’s brain trust had staged the famed soccer tennis tournament, two administrative workshops: Developing an Effective and Easy To Manage Community Strategy & Volunteer Turnover & Best Practices for Your Club’s Operations, a user forum, a spectacularly elaborate vendor booth, and a green screen photography station with props and costumes for the whole family. So how do we raise the bar next year? We’re already counting down the days till Indianapolis.

Even TSA agents can’t resist the allure of the sombrero.
